Running EmoGuardian on a VPS (Virtual Private Server) provides a stable and controlled environment for enforcing risk management rules. In this setup, EmoGuardian operates on a remote server, while trading activity is executed from a local machine. This separation reduces the likelihood of manual intervention and helps maintain consistency in risk control.

Access Control

To preserve the integrity of the risk framework, access to the VPS can be restricted. This prevents modifications to risk parameters during periods of emotional or reactive decision-making. One practical approach is to use a productivity tool to limit access to the remote session. Tools such as FocusMe allow applications or windows to be blocked based on specific criteria (e.g. window title or IP address). This makes it possible to restrict access to the VPS during predefined periods, while still allowing controlled access for maintenance when needed.

Operational Considerations

Access restrictions can be scheduled to:
  • prevent access during trading days
  • allow access during designated maintenance windows
This ensures that risk parameters remain stable during active trading periods.

Advantages of a VPS Setup

Using a VPS provides several benefits:
  • continuous 24/7 monitoring of the account
  • protection against local connectivity issues
  • isolation of the risk management layer from discretionary intervention

Limitation

The main limitation is cost. A basic VPS typically ranges between 10and10 and 20 per month. However, this should be considered in the context of risk management, where preventing a single uncontrolled loss can outweigh the ongoing cost of infrastructure.
